I know you all have seen these super cute message mugs floating around the World Wide Web. I love the fonts and designs of them. As always, I think that buying them is cool, but DIY’ing them would be even better. Why not add that personal touch AND save money? Win. Win.

I want to share with you all the few easy steps on how to create your own message mug. Follow these very simple steps:

First, gather these supplies:

  • Ceramic/porcelain mug (I got mine from the Dollar Tree)
  • Sharpie PAINT Pens
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Q-tips/Cotton balls
  • Oven

Next, thoroughly clean your mug using rubbing alcohol.  And be sure to remove all stickers so they won’t burn!! (I put stickers on the mugs for the kids as stencils. I removed the stickers immediately after they colored on and around the letters.)

Final Steps:

  • Create your design! If you make a mistake or want to completely remove your design, use the rubbing alcohol on your Q-tip or Cotton Ball.
  • After you create your design, let it set/dry overnight.
  • Lastly, put the mug in the oven at 425 for an hour and let the mug cool inside of the oven!

And that’s it!! We made ours as Mother’s Day gifts, because Moms love coffee, well everyone loves coffee!
