First impressions are not always lasting impressions. What appears to be a cute, quaint vehicle, turned out to be a fierce beast on the road. Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology engine allowed for the 2017 Mazda3 to compete on the road with other sportsters. SKYACTIV increases fuel efficiency and overall engine output, so be sure to buckle-up when taking this baby for a spin.
The 2017 Mazda3 Touring 6 Speed manual transmission made shifting gears a smooth and seamless process.
The G-vectoring control allowed for a smooth drive around curves. This vehicle welcomed every twist, turn and curve the city had to offer with grace. Hill assist definitely came in handy in mountainous terrain.
The Mazda3 offers an abundance of safety features. I felt like the car could almost drive itself.
My favorite features included:
- Smart Brake Support: Atlanta is known for its stop, go traffic. With this feature, I never had to worry about frontal collision.
- Lane Keep and Lane Departure Assist: These features were awesome! They warn you when you are veering into another lane. They also warn you when others embark in your space.
- Color Active Drive Display: This feature helped me maintain my speed and lane. The heads-up display appears just in your line of sight as you drive to keep you from looking down at the instruments panel.
I typically don’t boast about audio, but the Mazda3 comes standard with a Bose 9-speaker center point audio system. The sound in the car was sick! Sound echoes all around, giving it a well-balanced feel. It would definitely accentuate any night on the town.
Although this vehicle was a pleasant surprise to drive, it isn’t ideal for a ‘girls night out”. This vehicle lacks space. It would be ideal to take some of the space from the hatchback and push back for a little more legroom.
The Mazda3 is great for a little bit of fun around town. It’s economical, fuel efficient, and competitive. It’s not ideal for multiple passengers, but offers space for a weekend getaway. Definitely cruise worthy.
