Base Camp .  Day Camp .  Adventure  .  Dress Up

With baby’s in tow, and my inner fabulousness held hostage by a messy bun and two-day-old eyeliner; I eagerly answered the Toyota XSP’s call of adventure.

Base Camp.

To kick off our two-week adventure packed journey, Southeast Toyota Distributors invited a few automotive, lifestyle and outdoor recreation influencers to Atlanta’s Lady Bird Mess Hall for dinner. Aptly labeled as our “Base Camp,” Lady Bird Mess hall served as the starting point for adventures to come.

Greeted with hiking backpacks filled with outdoor adventure-themed swag, I was able to quickly find my place at the long camp table. I chatted-it-up with new friends, pigged-out on brisket, overindulged on mac-and-cheese, and had a few cocktails as I took in what was about to happen.

Reflections of the setting sun danced along the push pin wall map as representatives for Georgia Conservancy and Georgia State Parks advised us on great places to take in the natural wonders of Georgia. As they were speaking I couldn’t help thinking about how blessed I am to be among a group of people that actually care enough about conservation, to include it in their respective platforms.

Humbled my the invitation, and excited about the adventure ahead; I glanced over at the handwritten nametag on my (super expensive) hiking bag and took note of how thoughtful and beautifully intentional Southeast Toyota Distributors sought to connect people, land, and brand.

Day Camp.

Skeet shooting, fly fishing, off-roading, oh my!

No stranger to adventure, my 2017 Tundra XSP had me playing catch-up the whole day. We first starting with off-roading on the picturesque grounds of Barnsley Garden’s SpringBank Plantation. Then, moved to skeet shooting and fly fishing.

The 2017 Tundra XSP handled remarkably well, as we were doing doughnuts in the middle of SpringBank. (Don’t be jealous!) As a matter-of-fact not once did the truck feel unstable, or unreliable. Chris, from Auto Academics was at the helm, whipping the truck to and fro… so much that he lost his car mounted GoPro. Speaking of GoPro, get this, the 2017 Tacoma XSP comes standard with a GoPro mount! Is that not ridiculously cool, or what?

Here are a few Tundra features that came in handy during our day shooting, off-roading and fly fishing:

  • Predator Pro Running Boards – DUDE! These little steps were a life saver for getting in and out of the truck safely and quickly! Love Love Love!
  • Spray-In Bed Liner – This feature keeps you from scratching the paint in your truck bed. Which, for all pick-up truck owners is inevitable if you don’t have a liner. The aftermarket cost of a bed liner can go as high as 2k, so having this come standard in the XSP makes it one less thing you have to worry about.

Adventure.

One of the highlights of the 2017 Tundra XSP is its ability to journey with you to wherever life’s adventures take you. From hauling groceries (which I did in it) to off-roading to making dreams come true, the Tundra XSP’s features easily fit into my life as a busy mom, IT maven, and automotive blogger/journalist.

Now, about those dreams coming true. Recently I reached a milestone birthday. And you know what milestone birthdays tend to do? You guessed it. Milestone birthdays tend to make you assess your life, and determine what you should do next. Well, this year I decided to really, truly, live like this is my last year on earth. As a result, I’m as equally dedicated to slowing down and spending more time with my family as I am making sure I reignite the adventurous wanderer inside myself.

Totally committed to breaking down walls in my own life, and being an example to my kids (and maybe a few of my girlfriends), of fearless determination, boundless laughter, and limitless goals… I answered Toyota’s call to adventure by swimming with whale sharks. #NoFearThisYear

Dress Up.

It’s wedding season!!! YAY!!! Champagne, petit fours, rose petals, bridal showers, and tulle… the end. No really, that’s the end for me. Those are the only things my brain can think of right now. Like, THE ONLY thing… well with one ‘rough and tough’ exception. (Cut to the Tundra XSP)

Like the bride to the groom, and Bonnie to her Clyde, the Tundra and I hit it off this summer. Having already said “Yes to the Dress”,  I said “Yes to the Best,” the 2017 Toyota Tundra XSP.

Here are a few Tundra XSP features that made our day, as well as practically upstaged me during our dress-up session (lol!):

  • Black Matte, Lazer-Cut Grille! #DropsMic… see pics and you will understand.
  • Same Color Tire Fenders with Rivets – I didn’t notice how stylish this was until I saw other trucks with off-color tire fenders. Super Cute! (FYI, the gearhead name for this feature is “Color-Keyed Pocket Fender Flares”… but who talks like that anyway? Lol)
  • Chrome Exhaust Pipe – This gives the truck a nice, subtle, custom finished look.
  • Black Emblem Overlays – Wow. The matte finish on the “Tundra” and Toyota badge is nice touch that again gives the truck an expensive custom aftermarket feel with before market quality and cohesiveness.
  • Red Front Brake Calipers – Nothing says “I mean business,” so move the hell outta my way like colored brake calipers!
