Last month, Kendrick Lamar purchased his baby sister a car as a gift for her high school graduation. He initially caught a lot of heat for the purchase, some taking to social media to complain that he must be broke, that how could he buy his sister THAT car? He should’ve purchased her a Mercedes, or a BMW.
And then, the Internet and the Universe righted itself, and overwhelming support came through for Kendrick and the tried and true car that he purchased for his sister – a Toyota Camry. Now in it’s 8th generation, the 2018 Toyota Camry has stood all the tests of time and is better than ever.
But to those who doubt the Camry’s sexiness or ability to turn heads AND to be one of the safest, fuel efficient cars on the road, let me tell you about my recent drive in the 2018 Toyota Camry and 2018 CH-R Crossover. The new 2018 Toyota Camry is silencing naysayers with a sporty, sleek look, one that designers deliberately wanted to be recognized from at least 200 yards away. The TNGA technology lowers the car’s center of gravity, allowing for agility, better performance and a sports car feel in a mid-size sedan. I experienced this first hand has as we drove on major thoroughfares and side streets at the beginning of Atlanta rush hour. The Camry handled beautifully. The ever present TNGA technology had me feeling safe and fly — looking good and feeling good as I weaved in and out of Atlanta traffic.
I also got a chance to drive the all new 2018 CH-R. This cute little crossover was a joy to drive and took me by surprise. It was light and zippy with a youthful feel. And just like the Camry, the CH-R was able to manage the turns, stops and the bobbing and weaving necessary to navigate Atlanta traffic.
Thank you to Toyota for an amazing time. We were treated to lunch at Southbound restaurant, dining on deviled eggs with bacon jam and ham chips, delicious brisket and pulled pork straight off the Big Green Egg. And for dessert – Bourbon Pecan Pie ala mode.
Maybe if the Kendrick Lamar haters actually drove the 2018 Toyota Camry that they would have a different perspective. Or maybe if they had that pie or the deviled eggs they would see things differently. Or maybe, or most importantly, when you really understand quality, “they” don’t matter at all.
